Alpha Hydroxy Acids

Alpha Hydroxy Acids

Alpha Hydroxy Acids combined with PRP and microneedling for skin rejuvenationWhat do Alpha Hydroxy Acids do?

Alpha Hydroxy Acids are also known as “AHA’s”.  They are key ingredients in cosmetic products aimed at lightening the skin.  They are dynamic skin renewal compounds that work to improve the texture, firmness and tone of the skin whilst also helping to reduce fine lines and wrinkles – early signs of ageing.

The best cosmetic skin lightening products will usually contain a combination of Glycolic Acid and Lactic Acid.  These are two different types of AHA’s that have been scientifically proven to be the most effective chemicals for improving the appearance of skin (skin rejuvenation).

Why use Alpha Hydroxy Acids for Skin Rejuvenation?

With increased exposure to the sun, our skin pigmentation cells (melanocytes) can increase production of brown pigment called “melanin”. This results in dark spots or “Age Spots”.  Alpha Hydroxy Acids target these dark spots by helping to reduce the appearance of the discolouration (hyperpigmentation) to ensure a brighter and more evenly coloured “tone” in the skin and also encourage more radiance (improved texture and hydration).

How do Alpha Hydroxy Acids work?

Alpha Hydroxy Acids work in three ways:

Exfoliation, Hydration (Moisturisation) and Rejuvenation

Exfoliation

Skin cell renewal is triggered through chemical exfoliation that removes the dead skin cells and breaks down the links between cells in in the outer layer of the epidermis.  This reveals the newer, healthier cells underneath and results in a radiant complexion with improved texture.

Hydration

Alpha Hydroxy Acids improve skin texture and facilitate absorption of moisturisers.  AHA’s themselves also act as humectants by attracting water to the area of skin where applied. They also increase the skin firming effect for fresher looking skin with a prolonged healthier radiance.

Rejuvenation

As the skin renewal process is reinvigorated and the dead epidermal skin cells are shed, the skin becomes softer and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles is improved.

Protecting Your Precious Skin While Using Alph Hydroxy Acids In Skin Care Products

Once you start an AHA-based treatment your skin should always be protected from UV radiation.  Now, more than ever, it is important to prevent the premature ageing (photo-damage) of young, healthy skin with a broad-spectrum sunscreen. Environ Skin Care range contains a high UVA and UVB protection sunscreen called “RAD” to ensure your skin is protected during the skin renewal process when using Alpha Hydrox Acids.

Environ products have the benefits of combined AHA’s (glycolic acid and lactic acid) Vitamin A, and anti-oxidants like Vitamin C, Vitamin E and Niacinamide (Vitamin B3). These vitamins are also known to have a skin lightening effect on the skin by photo-protection and disrupting the melanin-production process.

Introduction to the Use of Environ Skin Care Range

Environ Skin Care’s AVST range is a fool-proof, easy “step-up” system designed to allow you skin to gradually acclimatise to increasing amounts of Vitamin A and Alpha Hydroxy Acids.

The professional range provides stronger level of glycolic and lactic acid to be combined with the DF Machine for a professional medical facial by the doctor within our clinic. Ideally combined with Medical Grace Micro-Needling and Photo-Activated Platelet Rich Plasma injections for a truly natural Skin Rejuvenation Procedure.
